UNESCO-L'OREAL International Fellowships Programme for Young Women in Life Sciences, 2012
The UNESCO-L’ORÉAL fellowships is available for female researchers in the field of life sciences. Applicants of any Nationality can apply for this felowship. Candidates must already be engaged in pursuing research at the doctoral or post-doctoral level in one or allied fields of life sciences. Application has to be done by the National Commission for UNESCO of applicants country of origin

Eligibility:

The National Commission must endorse all applications. UNESCO cannot entertain applications from individuals.
Candidates must be no more than 35 years old. Thus, applicants born before 1 January 1977 will not be considered under this programme.
Preference will be given to candidates already possessing at the time of application a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in the field of the life sciences. However, candidatures from students pursuing studies/research leading to a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) will also be entertained.
Only candidates with the necessary qualifications, who demonstrate outstanding intellectual promise and personal qualities, will be considered
Candidates must be proficient in reading and writing the language of instruction in the proposed country of study.
Applicants must be in good health, both physically and mentally.
Candidates may not be in receipt of another fellowship/grant for the project or for the period covered by the fellowship application. If the candidate receives another award, scholarship or fellowship for the proposed research project, she should inform UNESCO immediately to verify whether her application is still valid
Application Materials:

The UNESCO Fellowship application form duly completed, in English or in French, in duplicate.
Two recent photographs
An e-mail address regularly used by the candidate.
Certified copies of degree or diplomas (including transcript of grades) in duplicate. Proof either of having obtained a Ph.D. degree or of being in the process of studying for a Ph.D. degree must be included.
A list of publications, if any.
A letter of recommendation from someone familiar with the candidate’s work.
A host institute’s letter of acceptance.
The certificate of language proficiency
A detailed description, one to two page(s), in either English or French, of the research work for which the candidature is being put forward.

VLIR Masters and Training Programme For students from developing Countries, 2012
VLIR-UOS awards scholarships to students from Africa, Asia and Latin-America to follow a training or master programme at a Dutch speaking university or university college in Belgium. The eligible training or master programmes are taught in English. They are designed for people in positions of responsibility in civil society. The scholarships cover all related expenses. VLIR-UOS enables innovative partnerships between universities and university colleges in Flanders and in developing countries. VLIR-UOS aims to find sustainable responses to global challenges and local needs

Eligibility:

You are a resident AND national of one of the countries on the country list (not necessarily the same country for residence and nationality)
You are not older than 40 years if you apply for a scholarship to follow a master programme. Or you are not older than 45 years if you apply for a scholarship to follow a training programme.
You have the required English proficiency.
Professional experience and employment perspectives are only required for a training programme, but can be an advantage to be selected for master programmes.
