The Fellowship provides opportunities for African researchers to conduct collaborative research/training for 1 to 12 months duration at universities and research institutions in India. The features of the fellowship includes; supporting upto one year of research work in India in area of science & technology; monthly sustenance allowances; additional contingency grant; to and fro air fare by economy class and total of 8 fellowships per country
Each African country will have 8 slots of Fellowship under this programme.
Post Doctoral Fellowship: Duration 6 months. Maximum 2 fellowships of 6 months duration each or one fellowship thereof subject to total 12 man-months.
Visiting Fellowship: Duration 3 months. Maximum 3 fellowships.
Senior Fellowship: Duration 1 month. Maximum 3 fellowships
Eligibility:
The applicant should be actively engaged in research at a university or research institution in the African country and should meet the following eligibility criteria for each of the three categories:
Post Doctoral Fellowship: Ph.D
Visiting Fellowship: Ph.D / M.Tech / M.Sc. (Engg / Technical) or 6 to 10 years working experience

The scholarship promotes doctoral research for the benefit of developing countries. The projects have to be innovative and develop a method or product, which is directly relevant for improving the livelihoods of poor people in developing countries. Deadline for the submission of concept notes is 31 October 2011 and deadline for the submission of full project proposals by candidates admitted to the second stage of the selection process is 15 February of the subsequent year (2012)

Preference will be given to citizens of least developed countries and other low-income countries according to the OECD classification.
The entrance requirements for doctoral studies at the ETH Zurich have to be fulfilled.
Experience in the selected research area is required.
The research project
The proposal is of high scientific quality.
The research topic is innovative and relevant for development.
The ecological, socio-economic and cultural context has been taken into account.
Reasonable results can be expected in the given timeframe.
The expected impact of the research is high for the intended target group.
The partnership
Projects involving a research partner from a developing country have to be based on the KFPE principles.

All partners make a substantial in-kind or cash commitment.

C V Raman International Fellowship for African Researchers, 2011
The Fellowship provides opportunities for African researchers to conduct collaborative research/training for 1 to 12 months duration at universities and research institutions in India. The features of the fellowship includes; supporting upto one year of research work in India in area of science & technology; monthly sustenance allowances; additional contingency grant; to and fro air fare by economy class and total of 8 fellowships per country
Each African country will have 8 slots of Fellowship under this programme.
Post Doctoral Fellowship: Duration 6 months. Maximum 2 fellowships of 6 months duration each or one fellowship thereof subject to total 12 man-months.
Visiting Fellowship: Duration 3 months. Maximum 3 fellowships.
Senior Fellowship: Duration 1 month. Maximum 3 fellowships
Eligibility:
The applicant should be actively engaged in research at a university or research institution in the African country and should meet the following eligibility criteria for each of the three categories:
Post Doctoral Fellowship: Ph.D
Visiting Fellowship: Ph.D / M.Tech / M.Sc. (Engg / Technical) or 6 to 10 years working experience
Senior Fellowship: Senior Experts / Scientists / Professor
